Why is there an “application” for Confirmation? Does this mean not everyone who applies will get Confirmed?
Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation is not a decision to be made lightly. The application allows both the teen and their parent/guardian the opportunity to discern if Confirmation is something they truly want and are ready to prepare for. It also gives Confirmation Team the chance to get to know our teens and their families before beginning the process. It’s important to remember that this isn’t like a job interview or scholarship application; there are no right or wrong answers, so there is no need to worry! If we are concerned at all about someone’s readiness to prepare for the Sacrament, we will open a dialogue with the teen and his/her family before making any kind of decision.

As a baptized Catholic, I am preparing for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation, by which I will be more perfectly bound to the Catholic Church and enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the Faith as a witness of Christ.
As a candidate for Confirmation, I promise the following:
• I will approach my Confirmation journey with an open mind and an open heart.
• I will attend and fully participate in all Confirmation sessions.
• I will complete all assignments by the deadline.
• I will show respect to those in my group who are on the journey with me.

Sponsor Information
The role of the Confirmation Sponsor is to be an example to their candidate. They are called tor reflect with the candidate the meaning of life of Catholic discipleship. The Code of Canon Law #874 specifies the requirement for serving as sponsor is the same as for a baptismal godparent, namely, they may not be the parent of the candidate; must be at least sixteen years of age; must be fully initiated (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist); if married, be in a valid Catholic marriage; and living a life of active faith in the Catholic Church, who regularly attends Mass on Sunday and strives to live their faith.
